Make Room, Charlotte!

Friends have been telling me for years that I should have an interior design blog. I love to write, and the visual element of photo-rich blogs can instantly convey design concepts better than a thousand touchy-feely adjectives. So what took me so long?

Excuse #1. As a professional interior designer, my primary job is to LISTEN. Design is not just about being trend-savvy. It’s about gathering information and cues from a variety of sources, and tailoring a specific solution to meet the aesthetic and functional needs of an individual client.

Excuse #2. There are already heaps of pin-able, far-reaching design blogs and sites out there clamoring for your attention. Houzz, Design Sponge, One Kings Lane, and dozens of near-celebrity-status designers do an excellent job of showcasing drool-worthy spaces and informing consumers about the latest products, pitfalls, and pretties.

Excuse #3. I already spend too much time in front of the computer, and not enough time with real people. I’ve got better things to do than worry about SEO keywords.

Hey, I’m the first to admit when I’m wrong. (Of course, I’m still right. All of the above statements remain true.) But you people are insatiable, so… get ready, there’s a new kid on the blog block! Check back regularly for design inspiration, information, and updates. And let’s Make Room together.  (see what I did there?)

Your suggestions and comments are welcome!
